Issue Description : Admins may have been unable to access the Microsoft 365 Defender portal security center.

More info : Admins may have been unable to access the Microsoft 365 Defender portal security center through security.microsoft.com, compliance.microsoft.com, and the soon to be deprecated protection.office.com.

As a reminder, protection.office.com will be deprecated soon. Please refer to MC428504 for more details about that.

Scope of impact : This issue may have affected any users who attempted to access the Microsoft 365 Defender portal security center through security.microsoft.com, compliance.microsoft.com, and the soon to be deprecated protection.office.com.

Final Update : 25/10/2022 08:45:00 AM – Microsoft has finished monitoring telemetry and confirmed that the impact is remediated.

Root Cause : An update prevented admins from accessing the Microsoft 365 Defender portal security center through security.microsoft.com, compliance.microsoft.com, and the soon to be deprecated protection.office.com.

Next steps : To help prevent similar impact in the future, They are further reviewing why the update affected admins and how they can improve their validation procedures to catch such issues before deployment.
