Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: External users may be unable to join cross-cloud meetings when using the Microsoft Teams web client.

Final Update: 28/06/2024 08:55:00 AM Microsoft have completed deploying the fix to all affected environments, and after monitoring the service, they’ve verified that the issue has been successfully resolved.

Scope of impact: Any external user attempting to join cross-cloud meetings using the Microsoft Teams web client may be impacted.

Root cause: A missing portion of code in a recent service update to the Microsoft Teams service infrastructure has set cross-cloud users’ default Microsoft Teams version to the new Teams client, resulting in these users being unable to join meetings created by users in organization with policies that only allow users on Microsoft Teams classic to join meetings.

Next steps: Microsoft are investigating how the missing portion of code in a recent service update to the Microsoft Teams service infrastructure had set cross-cloud users’ default Microsoft Teams version to the new Teams client to prevent this problem from happening again. They’re also assessing why impact wasn’t identified prior to deploying the impacting change so that we can improve their update testing practices.
