Windows 365 Frontline Shared and Dedicated Cloud PCs

These Cloud PCs allow for multiple users to share Windows 365 licenses in the following scenarios.

Dedicated Scenario – Ideal for shift workers and temporary staff:

  • License Sharing: 3 users can share 1 Windows 365 Frontline License.
  • Dedicated Cloud PCs: Each user gets their own Cloud PC.
  • Connection Management: One user can connect at a time per license.
  • Scalability: Deploying 2 licenses allows 6 users to connect, with 2 users accessing their Cloud PCs concurrently.
  • Notifications: Users waiting for access will receive a notification (if all available licenses are in use.)

Shared Scenario – Great for short, occasional sessions for a cloud PC

  • Shared Access: Multiple users can share 1 Cloud PC, with 1 concurrent user at a time.
  • Notifications: Other users will see a notification in their Windows App informing them to wait until the session becomes available (if all available licenses are in use)

Next steps for Local Admins:

  • Procure W365 Frontline Licenses: This should be done using the usual NHS method for procuring Licenses – Onboarding Guide for Local Administrators – NHSmail Support
  • Request the provisioning of W365 Frontline Services: a ServiceNow request should be submitted containing all relevant information such as;
    • ODS code
    • List of users to receive Cloud PCs
    • Amount and Type of W365 Frontline Licenses that have been procured and onboarded

This enhancement is designed to simplify operations and enhance flexibility for NHS teams.
