Which Version of Copilot is Right for Me?

1. Introduction

The NHS.net Connect service currently offers two versions of Microsoft Copilot:

  • Copilot Chat – available to all NHS.net Connect users as part of their base licence
  • M365 Copilot – requires an add-on licence purchased locally

Organisations should consider their user’s needs against the available products and provide the appropriate advice and support.

Further information on each product is available below and on the following link – Microsoft 365 Copilot – NHSmail Support

2. Comparing Copilot Options

Copilot Chat is an AI chat tool built specifically for work. It uses the latest AI models and data from the web to answer your questions, generate content and ideas, and find information. You can even upload a file from your computer to have AI analyse and transform your content.

M365 Copilot is Microsoft’s AI tool that is part of the Microsoft 365 suite. This suite includes apps like Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams. M365 Copilot helps you work more productively by doing tasks like summarising documents, drafting emails, and creating presentations.

Both are protected by the same security and governance measures as your nhs.net email and files in Microsoft 365.
