Issue Description: Users can’t sign into the Microsoft Teams Meeting add-on for Google Workspace

More info: Users also couldn’t perform Teams actions that required authentication from that add-on.

While users couldn’t sign in or create new meetings using the add-on, if they were previously signed in then joining existing meetings and calls in Teams worked as expected.

Final Update: 09/12/2025 09:01:00 AM – Microsoft’s have identified that the authentication process was attempting to use an authentication component configuration that was no longer valid for this purpose, which resulted in impact. They have since updated the configuration and have confirmed in their service health telemetry that their actions have alleviated impact.

Scope of impact: Your organization was affected by this event, and users couldn’t sign in or perform actions requiring authentication in the Google Workspace add-on in Microsoft Teams.

Root cause: The authentication process was attempting to use an authentication component configuration that was no longer valid for this purpose, which resulted in impact.

Next update by: Microsoft are analyzing why this configuration error didn’t get identified by our automated check process so that they can avoid similar impact in the future.
