Issue Description: Users can’t enable the Q&A feature when creating Microsoft Teams town halls.
Final Update: 08/12/2025 09:02:00 AM – Microsoft have identified that a recent service update to Microsoft Teams has removed the ability to enable the Q&A feature for newly created town halls They have reverted the offending update and confirmed with affected users that the Q&A feature can now be enabled for newly created town halls. Town halls created during the period of impact will still be affected, but organizers can disable and reenable the Q&A feature for affected town halls to resolve the issue.
Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and any user attempting enable the Q&A feature when creating Microsoft Teams town halls is impacted.
Root cause: A subset of Exchange Online service infrastructure that helps facilitate access to user mailboxes dropped below our manageable service performance thresholds, resulting in impact.
Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing our service update validation procedure to improve the identification and prevention of similar issues in the future.
