Issue Description : Users may have encountered delays loading images in Microsoft Teams chats.

More info : Affected users may have encountered delays of up to 30 seconds when loading images.

Final Update : 03/10/2023 10:51:00 AM – Microsoft identified that an unexpected increase in user traffic caused a section of infrastructure, responsible for image loading in Microsoft Teams, to perform below acceptable thresholds and resulted in impact. They have redirected affected user traffic to alternate healthy infrastructure and confirmed after a period of monitoring that impact is no longer occurring.

Scope of impact : Impact was specific to some users who were served through the affected infrastructure in Europe, Middle East, and Africa.

Root cause : An unexpected increase in user traffic caused a section of infrastructure, responsible for image loading in Microsoft Teams, to perform below acceptable thresholds and resulted in impact.

Next steps : Microsoft are reviewing performance data and trends on the affected systems to help prevent similar impact from happening again.
