Issue Description: Users may be unable to access archived email messages in Outlook on the web.

More info: When affected users try to access archived email messages in Outlook on the web, they may see the error message “Your message cannot be displayed right now.”

Current Update: 07/04/2026 08:46:00 AM–Microsoft deployment has completed in some affected environments, additional time is required to deploy the fix across the remaining impacted areas. They expect deployment to complete by Monday, April 13, 2026. In parallel, they are reaching out to a sample of impacted users to confirm whether issue has been mitigated.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific to some users attempting to access archived email messages in Outlook on the web. This section may be updated as our investigation continues.

Root cause: A code issue is resulting in restricted access when archiving email messages in Outlook on the web. The primary and archive mailboxes are on different machines, the request to access the mailbox is landing in the correct portion of infrastructure but is trying to find the primary instead of the archive mailbox, resulting in impact.
