Issue Description: Some users receive false Microsoft Defender for Endpoint alerts for devices’ Basic Input/Output System (BIOS) versions.

Affected users receive alerts to update their devices’ BIOS versions when they’re already up to date

Final Update: 06/10/2025 10:30:00 AM – Microsoft have confirmed through monitoring service health telemetry that the issue is resolved with their fix implemented.

Scope of impact: Your organization is affected by this event, and some users receiving Microsoft Defender for Endpoint alerts for the BIOS version of their Dell devices are impacted.

Root cause: A code bug in the Microsoft Defender for Endpoint logic that fetches vulnerabilities for Dell devices is causing impact.

Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing the impacting code bug to understand how it was introduced into the service, so that they can prevent similar instances of impact from occurring in the future.
