Issue Description: Users search results in SharePoint Online may show empty search results

More info: The issue specifically impacts tenants created on or after Thursday, April 17, 2025.

Final Update: 12/05/2025 09:30:00 AM – Microsoft have developed and deployed the fix, which has remediated impact for the remaining affected users.

Scope of impact: Impact is specific users in tenants created on or after Thursday, April 17, 2025, and the problem impacts users performing searches in SharePoint Online.

Root cause: A high number of app requests and retries to an API that facilitates SharePoint Online search is resulting in the impact.

Next steps: Microsoft are continuing their investigation to better understand the underlying cause of the higher-than-normal rate of app requests and retries on the affected API to prevent issues like this from occurring in the future.
