Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users can’t create new or refresh existing datasets using the dataflow or Lakehouse connectors in Power BI.

More info: To bypass the issue, affected users could have downgraded the desktop version of Power BI to the June version, the May version, or any older version.

This issue was also preventing users from creating or refreshing existing reports using the dataflow or Lakehouse connectors in Power BI.

Final Update: 16/07/2025 08:55:00 AM – The change reversion has completed and Microsoft have confirmed through service health telemetry that impact was remediated. To fully restore service users, will need to restart their desktops.

Scope of impact: This issue may have prevented any user from creating new or refreshing existing datasets or reports using the dataflow or Lakehouse connectors in Power BI.

Root cause: A recent service update to improve our authentication process introduced a regression, which resulted in impact.

Next steps: To help prevent similar impact in the future, Microsoft are further reviewing their update release procedures to identify regressions before being deployed.
