Issue Description: Users may be unable to apply video effects during meetings in Microsoft Teams desktop client.

Current Update: 05/02/2026 09:08:00 AM – Microsoft’s review of the internal reproduction had determined that a recent routine service update exposed a code regression, which affected some users’ ability to apply video effects during meetings in Microsoft Teams desktop client. They have since reverted the service update and after an extended period of monitoring confirmed that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: This issue may impact any Microsoft Teams desktop user attempting to apply video effects in a meeting.

Next Steps: Microsoft are continuing to analyze how the service change was applied to understand why the potential for impact wasn’t caught during the update testing and validation phase. These actions will help us to clarify what actions they can take to ensure similar impact doesn’t occur in future and to continue our ongoing mission to improve the resilience of their service for all Microsoft Teams users.
