Issue Description: Admins may be unable to provision new OneDrive personal sites for newly onboarded users.

More info: As a result, new users may be unable to access OneDrive.

Users who are auto-provisioned by the service aren’t affected.

Final Update: 11/02/2026 09:20:00 AM –Microsoft has identified that a recent service update, intended to modify the permissions for newly onboarded users, contained a code issue which resulted in impact. They have reverted the offending service update and confirmed through testing with affected users that the impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Some admins attempting to provision new OneDrive personal sites may be impacted. This information may be updated as our investigation continues.

Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing their update procedures to understand why impact to onboarding wasn’t caught during the testing phase. This will allow us to drive service improvements by proactively identifying similar issues in the future and improve their update testing processes.
