Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Microsoft Defender for Endpoint users who utilize macOS devices may be unable to update the service.

More info: Affected users can create a support case to be provided an expedited fix.

Additionally, Microsoft Auto Update (MAU) will eventually update the service to the expected version.

Final Update: 12/09/2025 08:35:00 AM – Microsoft have updated their knowledge base “known issues” section to direct impacted users and admins to the GitHub upgrade procedure provided in the above “More info” section. Admins continuing to encounter impact who require additional assistance implementing the upgrade can contact Microsoft support for further guidance.

Scope of impact: Your organization is impacted by this event, and some Microsoft Defender for Endpoint (MDE) users attempting to utilize macOS devices are impacted.

Root cause: A latent code issue present within version 2506 of Microsoft Defender for Endpoint on MacOS is resulting in impact.
