Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users’ requests to use edit mode to interact with Microsoft Word documents in Copilot may have failed.

Final Update: 20/03/2026 08:28:00 AM – Microsoft reverted the suspected offending update and confirmed this remediated impact for a subset of users. They subsequently reverted this change for all affected users and confirmed using their internal telemetry data that impact is remediated.

Scope of impact: Some users attempting to use edit mode to interact with Microsoft Word documents in Copilot may have been impacted.

Root cause: A recent update contained the wrong search parameters when searching for values that facilitate the use of the edit mode when interacting with Microsoft Word documents in Copilot, resulting in impact.

Next Steps: Microsoft are reviewing their service update validation procedure to detect and prevent similar issues that may occur in the future.
