Issue Status: RESOLVED

Issue Description: Users may be unable to open Word Documents in Microsoft Teams.

More info: As an alternate method, affected users could have opened Word documents directly in the Microsoft Office Word app to avoid impact.

Final Update: 12/08/2024 08:50:00 AM – Microsoft have successfully rolled back the previous update, and after validating with a subset of affected users as well as their internal telemetry, they confirmed that impact has been remediated.

Scope of impact: Users serviced by the affected infrastructure may be unable to open Word Documents in Microsoft Teams.

Root cause: A recently deployed build update to the affected Microsoft Teams infrastructure contained a code issue, leading to impact.

Next steps by: Microsoft are reviewing the affected infrastructure to identify changes that can be made to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.
