NHSmail Reference: INC46452111
Microsoft Reference: MP1005102
Issue Status: RESOLVED
Issue Description: Admins may be unable to export data from eDiscovery (Classic) or eDiscovery (Preview).
More info: Admins see that eDiscovery (Preview) is exporting corrupted .zip files, and exports are failing in eDiscovery (Classic).
While we work to remediate impact, we recommend affected admins attempt the following to work around this impact.
1. Attempt to re-run the job. This condition does not happen for each export attempt. Please rerun the job as a first step.
2. We recommend you start with batches 3GB or below. If the export is larger than 3GB, please break up the job into multiple parts to reduce the size.
3. If you still experience the issue, please try to use the features under the “Class eDiscovery” tab.
If you are still experiencing issues, please open a support case.
Final Update: 31/03/2025 07:58:00 AM – Microsoft have confirmed that a build update intended to adjust how we set the value for .zip file headers larger than 4GB introduced a bug in how the file headers were handled, resulting in impact. Their previous fix deployment, which increased the allowed file size for exports, was successfully validated in our internal environment and with a subset of affected users, confirming the issue was successfully remediated.
Scope of impact: Any admin exporting data from eDiscovery may be affected..
Next steps: Microsoft are investigating how the impacting bug was missed during testing and validation procedures to identify opportunities to improve impact detection and prevent similar future occurrences.
