Issue Description : Users may be unable to access SharePoint Online pages with “content by query” web parts and may be receiving an error.

More Information : The error message states, “Attempted to use an object that has ceased to exist. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80030102 (STG_E_REVERTED))”.

Final Update : 17/05/2023 08:50:00 AM  – Microsoft’s further analysis into the internal error has identified a recent service update intending to improve the performance of their data query service was preventing access to SharePoint Online pages with “content by query” web parts. Following their successful testing with a group of affected users, they’ve reverted the offending service update to remediate the impact.

Scope of impact : Any user may be unable to access SharePoint Online pages with “content by query” web parts.

Root cause : A recent service update that was intending to improve the performance of our data query service resulted in impact.

Next steps : Microsoft are further analyzing the offending service update to better understand why impact was produced and so that they can help identify similar issues during their testing and validation processes.
