Issue Description : Some users may be unable to sync their notebooks from the OneNote desktop client an iOS app.
More Info : Users may have been unable to sync their notebooks from the OneNote desktop client and iOS app. This issue affected both the Win64 and Mac desktop clients, as well as the iOS app. While Microsoft was focused on remediation, they received reports that some users may have been able to use the web app as a potential workaround. Users on the Win32 desktop client weren’t impacted by this issue.
Scope of impact : This issue potentially affected any user who attempted to sync their notebooks from the OneNote desktop client or the iOS app.
Final Update : 30/08/2022 09:26:00 AM – Microsoft has completed the revert of the offending update and they have verified via telemetry that this has resolved the issue.
Root cause : A recent service update introduced an issue with an authentication component which resulted in this impact.
Next steps : Microsoft is reviewing their service update procedures to more quickly identify such issues in their development and testing process to avoid similar impact in the future.
