Issue Description: Read-only users may have seen blank pages for their SharePoint Online sites.

More info: Affected users reported seeing relevant page information displaying briefly before becoming a blank page.

Final Update: 09/01/2026 08:14:00 AM – Microsoft has validated that the latest SharePoint Online service build contained a regression which resulted in read-only users seeing blank pages for their SharePoint Online sites. They have rolled back the offending build and validated with a subset of affected users that our actions successfully resolved the issue.

Root cause: The latest SharePoint Online service build contained a regression which resulted in read-only users seeing blank pages for their SharePoint Online sites.

Next Steps: Microsoft are analyzing the offending service build to isolate the underlying root cause. This analysis will help us to improve the quality and reliability of their future updates, while also helping that similar impact doesn’t occur in future.
